The Kranzberg-Otjiwarongo package moves a significant section of Namibia’s railway upgrade programme into contractor prequalification for permanent way construction. With around 227 km of new main and loop track included in the scope, the procurement will determine which contractors are eligible to compete for one of the core construction packages on the corridor.
The works remain at procurement stage and have not yet been awarded. The 27 October 2026 prequalification deadline is the next formal step before shortlisted firms can proceed to the subsequent bidding stage for the railway construction contract.
