Angola And Russia In Talks

A delegation from Angola including the Angolan President João Lourenço, recently met with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin, in the city of Moscow.

Essentially the meeting was to encourage further investment in Angola by Russian companies and in particular some opportunities within the railway sector, specifically in the upgrading of rail infrastructure. The Russian News Agency ( TASS) reported that Russian truck-maker Kamaz may organize assembly of trucks in Angola and Russian Railways RZD may participate in the upgrading of rail infrastructure - are among forward looking cooperation projects. According to the website of the Angolan President - in the context of economic and business cooperation, President João Lourenço highlighted the performance of the Russian diamond company ALROSA in the field of diamond mining. In the area of oil and natural gas, a number of ideas were also set out in the framework of the fifth session of the Angola-Russia Intergovernmental Commission, where joint projects are expected to be implemented at both institutional and business cooperation levels.

President João Lourenço said that the Angolan Executive currently gives the highest priority to private investment in the country's economy, and therefore intends to increase the investment of private Russian companies in Angola, in the sectors of their interest, taking into account the enormous potential of that the country has.
