Transnet SOC Limited has issued a notice inviting South African-incorporated companies with valid mining rights in the Northern Cape to register their interest in participating in an upcoming Capacity Allocation Process for the Ore Export Corridor (OEC). The process relates to the long-term provision of integrated port terminal and rail services for the export of iron ore via the Port of Saldanha from 1 April 2028.
The Capacity Allocation Process is intended to support the conclusion of long-term integrated port and rail agreements, enabling miners to secure the necessary logistics capacity for planned or existing operations in the Northern Cape.
Eligible companies with existing iron ore mining rights, or operations that are envisaged to be established within the province, are required to confirm their interest by emailing OEC.participation@transnet.net no later than 23:59 on Thursday, 15 January 2026.
Transnet has emphasised that participation is strictly limited to South African-incorporated companies that meet the criteria outlined in the notice.
The initiative forms part of Transnet’s broader effort to enable the long-term growth, competitiveness and export potential of South Africa’s iron ore industry.
