Rolling Stock Leasing In Ghana

To me, railway development in Ghana is similar to the development seen in Egypt. Certainly on a far smaller scale for now, but who knows what the future holds…The massive investment, the openness to private sector participation – the drive to build freight and passenger railways - is to a degree comparable. And, I guess because we are so used to seeing big international OEMs or South African-based companies in the mix, every now and then, we are pleasantly surprised to find a “homegrown investment”.

Meet Tony Burkson, CEO of a Ghana-based infrastructure company called the Vaob Group. Initially focused on originating infrastructure projects in Ghana, and west Africa. A few years ago, they entered the rail market as a result of Ghana’s focus on developing its railway sector. Tony established V- Rail, a subsidiary of the Vaob Group.

V- Rail really has two key areas of focus - firstly rolling stock leasing and secondly, railway operations for freight. Find out more about these activities in this Coffee with the Editor.
