On 25 August 2025, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouly, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir, President’s Advisor for Financial Affairs Lieutenant General Ahmed El-Shazly, Director General of the National Service Projects Organization of the Armed Forces Major General Magdy Anwar, and Head of the Financial Affairs Authority Major General Khaled Ahmed Abdullah.

The President was briefed on developments in the construction, modernisation, operation and management of ports across the country. This included the master plan for Gargoub Seaport and Gargoub Special Economic Zone, the master plan for Abu Qir Seaport, and the liquid bulk terminal for storing and mixing petroleum products at East Port Said Port. The review also covered the management, operation, marketing and maintenance of Al Galala Marina, and the management, operation and redelivery of the superstructure of Berenice Seaport. The expected returns from these projects and the employment opportunities they will generate were also examined.
The meeting addressed progress on transportation projects, in particular the railway system. Updates were provided on the construction of the East-West Nile Monorail, related passenger stations, integration with the East Cairo Monorail and the BRT, and the upgrading of adjacent roads. The East Nile Monorail is scheduled to open in November 2025.
Developments were also reviewed on the first line of the high-speed electric train between Sokhna, Alexandria, El Alamein and Marsa Matrouh, scheduled to open in June 2026, as well as the high-speed train line between Salam City, 10th of Ramadan City and the New Administrative Capital, due for completion in March 2026. These projects were noted as central to urban, industrial and tourism development.
The meeting examined opportunities for expansion in industrial zones to support the national plan to advance industry. This includes the establishment of new plants to meet local market needs, promote localisation of industry and increase the supply of locally produced inputs.
The Minister of Industry and Transport reviewed developments in the iron, steel and cement industries, highlighting the work of Suez Steel Company and El-Areesh Company for Cement. The review emphasised the state’s focus on attracting investment and forming strategic partnerships to broaden local and joint manufacturing, reduce imports, increase production for both domestic consumption and export, and create jobs.
The President underscored the need to meet project timelines, conduct a comprehensive review of the road network, improve efficiency, and accelerate the establishment of integrated logistics hubs linking production areas to seaports under construction. The importance of attracting major global maritime lines and operators was also stressed, in support of industrial development and economic growth.
