On 7 July 2026, SSF International GmbH announced that the company had been contracted to provide developer assistance and construction supervision for an important railway project in Egypt.
The project comprises the construction of a 63.5-kilometre railway line connecting Rubeiky station with Belbeis. The line will provide access to important industrial sites and the dry port in the city of 10th of Ramadan.
The construction scope includes the development of the new railway line between Rubeiky and Belbeis, including stations, with some new construction and some renovation work.
Works will cover:
- Track installations
- Signalling systems, including a control centre and backup control centre
- Telecommunications systems
- Electricity supply
- Cabling
- Construction work related to technical buildings for signalling, telecommunications and electricity technology
In addition to the construction works, the project comprises all necessary design services, test runs and initial operation, as well as a five-year warranty period.
SSF International’s scope of services includes supporting the formation of a Project Implementation Unit by the developer. This includes establishing the unit, setting procedures for operations, project management and financial management, assessing personnel training needs and implementing training.
The company will also supervise the construction works and support compliance with the regulations and reporting requirements set out in the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Agence Française de Développement financing documents, including credit lending regulations and practices.
The scope further includes support for the implementation of environmental and social standards.
The project will focus on modern SIL4 control and safety technology, infrastructure expansion and increased capacity.
