Mr Okitanye Gaogane has been appointed Caretaker General Manager of Botswana Railways for a tenure of up to one year, effective 29 December 2025.
Mr Gaogane is a programme and project management professional with more than two decades of experience supporting organisational performance, strategy execution, and the delivery of complex initiatives within large operational environments. His background includes leadership in programme oversight, governance strengthening, and the implementation of structured delivery frameworks.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a Business Minor and is currently pursuing an MSc in International Business. He is professionally certified in Managing Successful Programmes (MSP), Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2 Practitioner, and Better Business Case, and has played a role in building national capacity in project management and project controls through partnerships with recognised international professional bodies.
During his tenure, Mr Gaogane is expected to provide strategic and operational leadership, with a focus on stabilisation, delivery of priority initiatives, strengthening internal systems, and supporting Botswana Railways’ mandate as a critical national transport and logistics entity.
