Botswana Names Railways Board Member Sehurutshe Deputy Permanent Secretary for Priority Projects

Omphile Sehurutshe has been appointed Deputy Permanent Secretary to the President, responsible for High Priority Projects, Botswana's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has announced. A project management professional, Sehurutshe also serves on the Botswana Railways Board.

His work with Botswana Railways has included the operator's infrastructure and modernisation agenda, with attention to rail efficiency, safety and regional connectivity.

In his new position, Sehurutshe has begun engaging on national infrastructure priorities, including the Trans Kalahari Railway and optimisation of the national rail fleet, alongside other strategic projects.

The Ministry said the appointment is intended to strengthen coordination and accelerate the delivery of infrastructure projects across government. Sehurutshe will work alongside Botswana's newly appointed Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Keoagile Atamelang, on the government's infrastructure portfolio.
