Egypt: President El-Sisi Hosts Discussion With Japan’s Foreign Minister

Recently, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi convened with Japan’s Foreign Minister, Mr. Yoshimasa Hayashi. They were joined by Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry.

Presidency Spokesperson, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, shared that President El-Sisi extended his greetings to Japan’s Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida. President El-Sisi highlighted the deep respect and esteem Egypt has for Japan, both officially and among its citizenry. He expressed Egypt’s dedication to deepening bilateral ties and building upon the outcomes of Prime Minister Kishida’s April visit, during which the relationship between Egypt and Japan was uplifted to a “Strategic Partnership.”

Minister Hayashi reciprocated with Prime Minister Kishida’s warm greetings for President El-Sisi. He emphasized Japan’s commendation for the progressive strides in the bilateral relationship, especially in light of their shared “Strategic Partnership.” Acknowledging Egypt’s significant development achievements, Minister Hayashi credited them for the remarkable uptick in Japanese investments in Egypt. He affirmed Japan’s commitment to bolstering this trajectory.

Their dialogue spanned various avenues of mutual cooperation. President El-Sisi articulated Egypt’s intent to bolster educational collaboration, drawing inspiration from Japan’s exemplary educational methodologies, especially in holistic human development. The duo also explored ongoing joint ventures in energy, transport, and technology sectors, as well as the iconic symbol of cultural cooperation – the Grand Egyptian Museum.

The international arena was not sidelined; the leaders broached the Russian-Ukrainian situation and its global economic ripple effects, including energy and food shortages. Regional issues were also deliberated upon. Minister Hayashi lauded Egypt’s continued efforts in pacifying regional conflicts. Both leaders agreed on the essence of diplomacy and preserving national integrity. Furthermore, they underscored the imperative of a just resolution to the Palestinian issue, ensuring enduring peace. President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast stance on the recognition of an independent Palestinian State, in alignment with international mandates, ensuring the prosperity and security of the region’s inhabitants.
