Transnet Freight Rail To Focus On Level 3 & 4 Incidents To Improve Safety

Lloyd Tobias, acting CEO of Transnet Freight Rail (TFR), had a quick Coffee with the Editor at the recent, annual railway safety conference, hosted by the Railways Safety Regulator. The report highlights the seriousness of safety incidents from a TFR perspective, it means there is still a long way to go. But, there has been improvement certainly in level 1 and 2 incidents, more focus is required on level 3 and 4 incidents, to deal with human error issues.

In the rail sector, it is important that production and safety go hand in hand. The 4th industrial revolution impact on the railway and especially safety as well as the use of technology to better manage safety in the rail environment. Lloyd touches on inspection technology among other topics.
