The construction of the Malagarasi Bridge under the second phase of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) project, Lot 6 (Tabora–Kigoma), has reached 96 percent completion.
According to the Lot 6 Project Manager, Engineer Patience Kalumuna, the major superstructure components are nearing completion, with the remaining few spans currently undergoing work on the cross beams and deck slabs. Engineer Kalumuna further explained that riverbank protection works using gabions, as well as efforts to restore the river to its natural course, are progressing well, effectively preparing the bridge for its final construction stages.
