Supports Children with Reduced Mobility on the Occasion of the Day of the African Child

As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting persons with reduced mobility, CAMRAIL has once again demonstrated its solidarity by renewing its support for the National Association of Disabled Persons in Solidarity of Cameroon (ANAHS-CAM). This initiative was carried out in connection with the Day of the African Child.

During a ceremony held on Thursday, 12 June 2025, at the Hall of Acts of the Douala 4th District City Hall in Bonabéri, CAMRAIL donated school supplies benefiting 300 children. The event was attended by Mr. Hugues Mbala Manga, Head of the Communication, Ethics, and CSR Department, and the patron of the event, Professor Edouard Hervé Mpah.

The railway concessionaire of Cameroon mobilised nearly one thousand packs of school supplies, including notebooks, colored pencils, pens, erasers, rulers, slates, and academic boxes. In recognition of its significant contribution to supporting vulnerable children, CAMRAIL was awarded an honorary diploma.

“We are pleased to have fulfilled the two-year partnership agreement signed with ANAHS-CAM, fully aligned with our corporate social responsibility policy. Above all, knowing that we are contributing to the education of these children makes us proud and further strengthens our commitment to supporting the leaders of tomorrow,” stated Mr. Joël Hounsinou, Managing Director of CAMRAIL.

Mr. François Kuete Sindo, National President of ANAHS-CAM, expressed his gratitude to CAMRAIL, emphasising that the company’s continued support enables many children to pursue their education with peace of mind despite their disabilities.

“This partnership with CAMRAIL is far more than a symbolic gesture; it is a concrete act of solidarity that transforms the lives of hundreds of children. Thanks to this support, we are able to restore confidence in young people who, despite their physical limitations, nurture great ambitions. We hope this example will inspire other economic players,” he said.

This initiative marks the second consecutive year that CAMRAIL has supported ANAHS-CAM as part of the activities leading up to the Day of the African Child, commemorated on 16 June. The date honours the memory of the hundreds of children massacred in Soweto, South Africa, in 1976, during protests demanding their right to quality education in their own language.
