The mock audit establishes a formal process for CAMRAIL to identify quality-management gaps across its principal railway operations and put corrective measures in place ahead of certification.
With corrective actions scheduled from October 2026 to July 2027 and a pre-certification audit planned for November 2027, the programme provides a defined timetable for CAMRAIL’s progression towards the formal certification process.
Cameroon railway concessionaire CAMRAIL has started a mock audit of its Quality Management System as part of a longer-term programme aimed at preparing the company for certification.
The opening meeting for the audit was held on 20 July 2026, bringing together CAMRAIL management, representatives from its safety management, finance, rolling stock and railway infrastructure functions, and three auditors from Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS).
The audit is intended to assess the level of compliance of CAMRAIL’s main business processes with the requirements of its selected standard, identify gaps and non-conformities, and establish corrective action plans.
CAMRAIL said the work will include discussions between the auditors and managers responsible for key processes across the railway network. The findings will subsequently be presented in an audit report, together with action plans intended to address identified areas of non-compliance.
The company expects the mock audit report to be validated in August 2026, followed by approval of individual departmental action plans in September. Corrective measures and recommendations arising from the audit are scheduled to be implemented between October 2026 and July 2027.
A pre-certification audit is planned for November 2027 before CAMRAIL proceeds with the formal certification process.
CAMRAIL’s quality management programme dates back to August 2008, when its Environment Department was converted into a Quality, Safety and Environment Department. The function subsequently became the QHSE Directorate in 2009, while the company aligned its activities with the railway-specific IRIS Version 02 standard in 2015.
Following a renewed quality management programme launched in 2025, CAMRAIL revised its quality policy and developed an action plan focused initially on meeting the requirements of its selected standard and, over the medium term, obtaining certification.
SGS has been appointed to support CAMRAIL through the assessment and preparation process.
