Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) has opened the consultancy procurement that will define the rehabilitation requirements for the 120 km Kilosa-Gulwe-Igandu railway section, moving the flood-prone section into a detailed assessment and engineering design phase under the Second Tanzania Intermodal and Rail Development Project.
The assignment covers field assessment, detailed engineering design and preparation of procurement documentation for rehabilitation of the railway track, bridges and culverts along the section. The consultancy is expected to run for six calendar months.
At this stage, TRC is not procuring the physical rehabilitation works. The current process is intended to establish the engineering scope and prepare the documentation required for a subsequent works procurement.
