Grindrod Limited has announced that Group Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Xolani Mbambo will step down effective 31 December 2025. During his 12-year tenure, Mbambo oversaw the transformation of Grindrod into a streamlined and cost-effective integrated logistics platform in sub-Saharan Africa. Key achievements include extending port concessions in Mozambique, securing a 25-year container handling concession in the Port of Richards Bay, and consolidating strategic assets.
The company was ranked second in the 2024 Sunday Times Top 100 Companies Awards under his leadership. Grindrod’s board has initiated the process to appoint a successor and confirmed that Mbambo will remain in place until year-end to ensure a smooth transition.
