Durban, South Africa, 22 August 2025: Grindrod Limited (Grindrod) is pleased to confirm that it has been awarded third-party access to Transnet’s rail network. The confirmation was received this morning following the Department of Transport’s media briefing.

This achievement marks a significant milestone in South Africa’s rail reform journey, creating opportunities for private sector participation to contribute positively to South Africa’s freight logistics system. Rail enables the movement of freight, connecting South Africa’s mines, farms, and industries to terminals and global markets cost-effectively and efficiently.
