Both products target the installation stage of slab track rather than its performance in service, which is where slab track costs are concentrated: Cast Fix holds the support assembly together through the concrete pour, and Fastening System 300 allows gauge and height adjustment afterwards.
- Cast Fix is an installation aid developed for top-down construction of slab track systems.
- The system holds the base plate, elastic support and levelling elements together as a single unit before concrete is poured.
- The Fastening System 300 is designed for both conventional railway lines and high-speed slab track applications.
- The fastening system allows adjustments to track gauge and height to support precise track geometry.
- Its SKL15 tension clamp is positioned centrally above the rail foot to distribute forces evenly and help prevent unwanted rail rotation.
- Components of the Fastening System 300 can be pre-assembled before installation to simplify site work and reduce assembly time.
voestalpine Railway Systems has introduced two slab track products, an installation aid called Cast Fix and a rail fastening system designated Fastening System 300.
Cast Fix is an installation aid developed for top-down construction of slab track. It holds the base plate, elastic support and levelling elements together as a single unit before concrete is poured, which the company said keeps the elastic support plates in position during concreting and prevents them sagging or being contaminated by fresh concrete.
voestalpine said the arrangement is of particular benefit on larger support plates such as those used in turnout areas, and that more precise positioning of the fixing points improves the accuracy of the pour and reduces subsequent track and height correction after the concrete has hardened. It also removes the need for auxiliary structures or additional frames to fix the support points.
Fastening System 300
Fastening System 300 was developed for conventional lines and for high-speed applications on slab track. The company said it allows adjustment of both track gauge and height, and that the elastic mounting supports force transmission between rail and track.
The system uses an SKL15 tension clamp positioned centrally above the rail foot, which voestalpine said distributes forces evenly, reduces the risk of overloading or deformation of the clamp and prevents rail rotation. Components can be pre-assembled before installation.
The company announced both products on 25 August 2026.
