Uganda Railways Corporation has invited expressions of interest from consulting firms for a detailed feasibility study, design work and construction supervision for a proposed Railway Training Institute at Rubongi in Tororo District.
The assignment forms part of the East African Community Railway Rehabilitation Support Project, which includes the refurbishment of the Kampala–Malaba metre-gauge railway. The project is financed by the African Development Bank and the African Development Fund.
Uganda Railways Corporation plans to establish the institute under the project’s capacity-building and training component. The appointed consultant will be responsible for assessing the project’s feasibility, preparing the required designs and supervising construction.
Interested firms must demonstrate relevant experience in similar assignments, experience working under comparable geographical conditions, an appropriate organisational structure and an understanding of the project’s scope and objectives. Firms may form joint ventures to strengthen their qualifications.
