UFIGA and SETRAG have approved a tariff agreement governing the rail transport of timber on the Trans-Gabon Railway for the 2025–2026 period, providing greater certainty for Gabon’s forestry sector.

Finalised after several weeks of consultation, the agreement balances the economic requirements of forestry operators with the operational constraints of the rail network. A key outcome is the removal of the requirement for upfront payment for transport services, a measure that had been a major concern for industry stakeholders.

By securing tariff conditions for two years, the agreement improves planning visibility, supports more efficient logistics, and contributes to a more stable business environment for a sector that is central to Gabon’s economy.

UFIGA and SETRAG have also confirmed that discussions will begin in 2026 to establish tariff arrangements from 2027, reflecting a joint commitment to proactive dialogue and long-term collaboration in support of sustainable economic development.
