The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has advanced preparations for the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line depot at Okokomaiko following a stakeholder engagement with tenants affected by the project.
The meeting, held at the palace of the Oniba of Iba Kingdom, brought together LAMATA officials, traditional leadership and Project Affected Persons. During the engagement, LAMATA outlined the scope of the depot project and explained the procedures for accessing compensation.
Affected tenants were informed that compensation claims require presentation of a Project Affected Persons (PAP) card issued during the earlier enumeration exercise, proof of tenancy through rent payment receipts, recent passport photographs and valid identification.
LAMATA announced that compensation payments to affected residents will begin next week and will run from Wednesday to Friday.
The Oniba of Iba Kingdom urged residents to cooperate with the Lagos State Government to ensure the successful delivery of the project and advised tenants with grievances to submit them through the palace for onward communication to LAMATA and the state government.
