Kribi Conteneurs Terminal Sets A New Record In Productivity

Kribi Conteneurs Terminal (KCT) achieved an exceptional performance in the first half of 2021 with a record 21,594 twenty-foot equivalent containers (TEUs) handled in import and 4,429 in export. Between January and June 2020, KCT had processed 7,149 TEU containers in import and 3,850 in export. The growth rate compared to 2020 is of the order of 202% for imports and 15% for exports, for an overall average increase of 136.59%.

Since 2018, the year in which its activities began, a container terminal development program has been initiated to anticipate the productivity needs generated by the growth of Cameroon and the hinterland countries. KCT has thus made several investments, notably with the acquisition in 2021 of 5 new park gantries and a mobile crane.

Beyond these investments, this sustained growth in traffic can be explained by the operational excellence of the teams at the container terminal. It thus makes it possible to showcase the dematerialization of all import and export procedures at the Port of Kribi. The synergy of actions between customs and port authorities and terminal users results in reduced processing times for vessels, entry and exit of containers.

Thanks to actions to promote and strengthen the competitiveness of the Kribi deep-water port carried out with the port authority, the container terminal is a benchmark logistics solution for connectivity in the Gulf of Guinea region. KCT, which now employs nearly 300 people locally, is mobilizing to strengthen the performance of the port place of Kribi.

“Such a success would not have been possible without the support and loyalty of our customers, the commitment of our teams and the confidence of the Kribi port authorities. One of our main growth strategies is the development of Import / Export traffic at the Container Terminal at the Port of Kribi "said Eric LAVENU, General Manager of the Kribi container terminal.

Made up of a group of Cameroonian shareholders, Bolloré Ports, CMA CGM, CHEC, Kribi Conteneurs Terminal (KCT) is the concessionaire of the container terminal of the deep-water port of Kribi. KCT offers the Cameroonian logistics chain a modern infrastructure, adapted to the new generation of transoceanic vessels, whose 350-meter docks can accommodate vessels with a capacity of up to 11,000 TEU. Infrastructures and equipment comply with the best international standards. A real gateway to Cameroon and its hinterland countries, such as Chad and the Central African Republic, this terminal facilitates the development of regional trade and accelerates the country's economic growth. Kribi Conteneurs Terminal also wants to position itself as a transshipment hub.
