UK electrification costs soar

The cost of electrifying the Great Western main-line from Paddington has soared by £1.2 billion. The British Public Accounts Committee says the increase is staggering and unacceptable. Upgrading the line between Maidenhead and Cardiff was set at £1.6bn in 2014 but is now expected to be closer to £2.
