TAZARA Steps in With Extra Udzungwa Train Trips as Rains Disrupt Roads

The Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA) has deployed additional Udzungwa Passenger Train journeys to provide alternative transport following severe road disruptions caused by heavy rainfall in the Mlimba area, in Tanzania.

Management has authorised unscheduled trips between Mlimba and Mang’ula to assist stranded passengers and those affected by damaged roads, bridges, and culverts. The service began operating on Thursday.

TAZARA’s intervention comes as heavy rains continued to affect the region, rendering key road links impassable.

“The Authority is committed to supporting the public during this difficult period by ensuring that rail services remain available to complement ongoing infrastructure repair efforts,” said Managing Director Eng. Bruno Chingandu.

Passengers travelling between Mlimba, Mang’ula, and surrounding areas are advised to exercise caution and cooperate with railway staff.

TAZARA management said it would continue to monitor the situation and adjust operations as necessary.
