CAMRAIL, a subsidiary of Africa Global Logistics, mobilised stakeholders on 20 June 2025 as part of the International Level Crossing Awareness Day. In addition to awareness-raising sessions at key level crossings along the national railway network, the concessionaire organised a large-scale outreach campaign in Yaoundé. A caravan featuring educational activities and games engaged residents in the neighbourhoods of Elig-Edzoa, Omnisport, Ngousso, Olezoa, Efoulan, and Mvolyé.

This edition of the awareness day was centred on respecting the Highway Code, highlighting the dangers of reckless behaviour at level crossings, and raising awareness of the risks linked to poor decision-making—particularly in a context marked by increasing acts of incivility near the tracks.

"The nature of the activities conducted aligned perfectly with the theme of this 17th edition. Our teams were present on the ground to help people make the right decisions and adopt the proper behaviour at and around level crossings. Since 2024, in response to the rising number of incidents, CAMRAIL has been strengthening its awareness efforts throughout the year to prevent risky behaviours and better protect nearby communities," explained Hélène-Michèle Ndougsa Mbang, Safety Management Coordinator at CAMRAIL.
CAMRAIL's teams were joined by representatives from the Ministry of Transport and officers from the NGO SECUROUTE. Its President, Martial Missimikim, emphasised CAMRAIL's continuous commitment: "CAMRAIL’s sustained engagement reflects the company’s genuine determination to shift behaviours and instil a culture of safety compliance."
It is worth noting that, in addition to the construction of pedestrian bridges, CAMRAIL has automated six level crossings with support from the Government of Cameroon and the World Bank. Moreover, beyond this awareness day, CAMRAIL regularly disseminates safety messages through visuals, public service announcements, and multimedia content. The ultimate goal is to embed a safety-first mindset and reaffirm that CAMRAIL’s core mission is to serve local communities—through the safe transport of people and goods—without ever compromising on safety.
