CABLE THEFT HITS UK RAILWAYS

Nearly 1,000 cases of signal-cable theft have been reported by UK railway operators in 2006. The copper wires were removed from alongside tracks and in warehouses. The estimated cost is in the region of 3 million, with each incident giving rise to service delays that affect as many as 1,000 travelle
