The African Storyteller Launches Regional Women’s Month Event to Champion Economic Inclusion in Southern Africa
The Role of Women in Growing Southern Africa’s Economies
The African Storyteller, a Pan-African Public Affairs Agency supporting B2B brands to grow their visibility and build strategic relationships across Sub-Saharan Africa, has launched a Southern Africa-focused Women’s Month initiative aimed at promoting the intentional inclusion of women in economic development.
This year’s events will take place in the Kingdom of Eswatini on 23 August 2025 and in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 28 August 2025. The series is intended to become an annual fixture.

A Regional Platform for Inclusion
August is recognised as Women’s Month in South Africa and across the broader Southern African region. It offers an opportunity to highlight the progress made in advancing women’s participation in the economy.
With women accounting for 51% of the region’s 74 million people—approximately 37.75 million—their contributions in leadership across business, government, and society are critical. However, systemic barriers still hinder full economic participation.
The African Storyteller maintains that Women’s Month should go beyond symbolic gatherings. The agency advocates for events that create space for both women and men to engage in meaningful discussions on gender parity and the socio-economic challenges driven by inequality, unemployment, and poverty.
Event Focus and Participation
Held under the theme "The Role of Women in Growing Southern Africa’s Economies," the events aim to bring together decision-makers and leaders from across sectors. Discussions will centre on best practices in diversity, equity, and inclusion, and the celebration of women leaders advancing local economic growth.
Key features of the events include:
- Presentations by prominent women speakers
- Engagement from strategic male leaders who champion women’s inclusion in leadership and investment
- Up to 100 participants at each gathering
A Long-Term Commitment
The African Storyteller plans to host these events annually to support a broader movement for gender inclusion in the region’s economic agenda.
