RINA Tech South Africa (Pty) Ltd and Mace Group have been awarded a US$322,800 consultancy contract under Lot 3 of the Technical Assistance Facility of Transnet, covering the assessment and development of bankable feasibility studies for solar PV, including the identification of energy efficiency measures, at selected Transnet Property (TP) and Transnet Engineering (TE) sites in South Africa.
The award was published by the African Development Bank on 11 September 2026.
The assignment aims to support TP and TE in advancing sustainable energy solutions by conducting feasibility studies and detailed designs for rooftop solar PV systems, exploring financing and procurement models, assessing energy business opportunities, and performing Level 2 Energy Audits to identify energy savings and optimisation opportunities across key sites.
The contract was approved on 23 June 2026 and runs for 12 months.
The consultant was selected using the Quality and Cost-Based Selection (QCBS) method. The request for expressions of interest was published on 30 June 2025 and the request for proposals issued on 17 October 2025. Technical proposals were opened on 17 November 2025 and financial proposals on 4 February 2026.
