The procurement process for the proposed road-rail bridge over the Congo River between Kinshasa and Brazzaville has advanced following a site visit and clarification meetings with prequalified bidders ahead of the October 2026 submission deadline.
Delegations from the Economic Community of Central African States, the Republic of the Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo accompanied the prequalified bidders on a site visit to the proposed bridge site on 23 July.
The Joint Technical Committee’s bid clarification meetings were held on 24 and 25 July to address the first series of questions submitted by the bidders.
The site visit and clarification meetings are the latest steps in the process to select a strategic partner for the project.
The previous project update was issued in May 2026, when Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Jean-Pierre Bemba, representing Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka, attended the signing ceremony for the bilateral agreement establishing the project’s preferential fiscal, customs and non-tax revenue regime. The agreement was signed in the presence of members of the DRC Government and a Republic of the Congo delegation led by Jean-Jacques Bouya, Minister of Territorial Planning and Major Works.
