An African Development Bank delegation was received at the Prime Minister’s Office for a working session on the Bank’s support for projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

DRC Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka has called on the African Development Bank (AfDB) to maintain its financial and technical support for the road–rail bridge linking the two Congos, the Lobito Corridor and MétroKin.

The three projects were recently reviewed during a meeting with an AfDB delegation led by Régis Lakoue Derant, the bank’s Executive Director for Central African countries. The meeting formed part of a dialogue mission with the Congolese government.

The road–rail bridge is intended to link the two Congos, while the Lobito Corridor aims to strengthen trade and regional integration. MétroKin is an urban transport project intended to improve mobility for Kinshasa residents.

Lakoue Derant confirmed that work on all three projects was already underway and proceeding in parallel with the Congolese authorities. The projects were being prepared for AfDB financing and were expected to contribute to the DRC’s development.

Alongside infrastructure financing, the AfDB plans to provide technical support to the Congolese authorities. This includes funding preparatory studies, providing technical expertise and assisting with project development before the projects enter their operational phase.
