The China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation (Cnmiec) is currently constructing a 28km section of railway from Matara to Beliatte in Southern Sri Lanka. The contract price is reportedly $US272 million. The same company has been appointed to extend the line from Beliatta to Kataraga
