According to the Saudi Gazette, two of the five new trainsets supplied by Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles SA (CAF) have suffered from repeated technical defects. The railway has since withdrawn all five sets "to safeguard the rights of Saudi Railways Organisation (SRO | the state railway)
