KAZAKHSTAN-CHINA LINK OPENS

Once-weekly passenger service has commenced between Astana, capital of Kazakhstan, and Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region in China. Journeys over the new 1,898km route take 37 hours in a 576-passenger, 11-coach train.
