Progress Rail, a Caterpillar Company, has announced its plans to provide hybrid locomotives to customers, combining diesel engines and batteries, leveraging the company’s continued innovations in propulsion technologies. Hybrid locomotives offer another capable option in the Progress Rail suite of locomotive emissions reduction technologies. Rumo in Brazil is taking delivery of the first hybrid locomotives from Progress Rail in 2022. Two GT38H intermediate power locomotives are being delivered
