OLD TANKCARS BEING PHASED OUT IN CANADA

In July 2013, a train of 97 tankcars containing crude oil ran away in Quebec, most derailing in the little town of Lac Megantic (whose centre was destroyed in the resultant explosions that killed 47 people). The derailed wagons were all type DOT-111 which have proved prone to leaking after accidents
