Namibe Port Modernised With Japanese Funding

The port of Namibe, a strategic asset for the development of the southern region and is Angola’s third largest port. Prior to the modernisation, the quay handled between eight and ten vessels per hour, which has been increased to between 30 and 35 movements per hour, the static capacity has been increased from 1,700 to 2,700 TEUs. 

Japan will continue to direct support to Namibe, where TOA Corporation is involved as a contractor in the Namibe Bay Integrated Development Project, which includes the expansion of the Namibe Port container terminal and rehabilitation of Saco-Mar Port.
