Amtrak is expected to place orders in the near future for about 29 high-speed 425-passenger trainsets for use on its Washington DC-New York-Boston north-east corridor. Siemens, Alstom and Hitachi are likely to tender but Bombardier says it is opting out. Amtrak issued a request for proposals in July
