GE Transportation has been selected as the preferred bidder to supply 100 diesel locomotives to Transnet Freight Rail (TFR).

Transnet’s October auction offers included:
Two Class 5E1 locos (E1101/E1102) at Ladysmith, KZN (shown as built 1966 and totally refurbished in 2004, starting price R1,800,000 each). These have featured in at least two previous auctions, Peter Bagshawe points out: March – starting price R2,000,000 then, and June 2009 – and were obviously unsold.
