Three fuel storage containers have been installed along the 424km main-line of Angola’s Caminhos de ferro de Luanda (CFL) by the National Oil Company (Sonangol), to facilitate transport and reduce shortage in the region, news agency Angop reports. At about 21:00 on 25 July, a test train arrived in Malanje, endpoint of the 424km line from Luanda, conveying a party including Caminhos de ferro de Luanda (CFL) president Osvaldo Lobo do Nascimento. Speaking on 16 July in Lubango, southern Huila Province, after a 700km journey on the rehabilitated Caminhos de ferro Namibe (CFN – formerly the Moçamedes Railway), Angolan deputy minister of transport José João Kuvingua said some 600 families have to be relocated from railway land in Lubango City and 32 others in Menongue. Caminhos de ferro de Luanda (CFL) has begun offering goods transport between Luanda and Dondo (190km). Intermediate localities served include Viana (Luanda), Catete and Maria Teresa (Bengo), Zenza do Itombe and Cassualala (Kwanza Norte). A tariff of “about AKZ 80.436” is quoted for moving 44 tons. On 20 June, Angolan minister of transport Augusto da Silva Tomás inaugurated a clinic in Lubango City, southern Huila Province, that will serve the workers of Caminhos de ferro Namibe (CFN) – formerly the Moçâmedes Railway. The new clinic, which cost over $US10 million, has 50 beds.
