AMTRAK DERAILMENT

Posted on 07 May 2010

On 27 April, the locomotive and leading coach of an Amtrak train from Chicago derailed as it pulled into the station at Milwaukee. “The back set of wheels on the locomotive and the first set of wheels on the first coach” came off the track. No one was injured and “more than two dozen” passengers on board were allowed to disembark, spokesperson Karina Romero told reporters.

Passengers scheduled to leave aboard another Amtrak train to Chicago at 19:35 were transported to their destination aboard a charted bus, she said. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
