Posted on 24 December 2009

On 12 December, Shane Johnson, 15, on his way home after visiting a friend, slipped through a hole in the fence close to the Kromboom Road bridge over the Cape Flats line near Crawford station. Wearing earphones and listening to music, he neither heard nor saw an approaching train – and was killed on impact. Shane was a grade nine pupil at Alexander Sinton Senior Secondary high school in Athlone.
