HOTAZEL

Posted on 16 October 2009

Reported by the Wepeners on sar-L:
“We received photos from a friend visiting the Hotazel area. From what we can gather the station platform is overgrown, but some buildings still stand, and the goods shed is still intact. Plenty of loops, rusted and disused. Also received a pic of 4 x class 10E’s, three blue, one red and plenty of ore trucks, close to Hotazel station. Leading was E10 043.

[ Running to the north-west of Kimberley, the 341km line to Hotazel (70km beyond the Sishen iron ore mining area), was opened in 1961 and electrified at 3kV DC in 1968. – editor
