SANDTON TRANSFERS FOR AIRPORT PASSENGERS

Posted on 18 August 2009 by Railways Africa Editor

Passengers travelling to or from the airport, whose originating or destination station is at any point other than Sandton, will have to change trains at Sandton. Passengers bound for the airport who board at Rhodesfield or Marlboro – or at any station on the main-line from Park station to Pretoria – will need to travel first to Sandton and transfer there. In the case of air travellers boarding at either Rhodesfield and Marlboro, a westbound train must be used to reach Sandton in the first instance, even though the airport lies in the opposite direction, and even though every airport-bound train will stop at both Rhodesfield and Marlboro. This is because coach doors that open at Rhodesfield and Marlboro will not open at the airport, and conversely, doors that will open at the airport will not do so at Rhodesfield and Marlboro.

[ This may constitute so-called “world-class” travel, but we predict world-class confusion. – editor
