DUBAI METRO AIMS

The opening of the Dubai metro on 20 September is expected to change lifestyles significantly in the metropolitan area. The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) aims at increasing the current 6% public transport share of commuting to around 30% by 2020, with the metro accounting for 17% of this share. The RTA hopes that the metro will bring a major shift in Dubai’s public transport culture and will lead to significant changes in the mobility habits of the people here.
