KHAYELITSHA LINE EXTENSION
Posted on 04 July 2009 by Station Master
The 11 June 2009 issue of “Blits”, Metrorail Western Cape’s free commuter newsletter, reports that the two new stations on the Khayelitsha line extension were officially opened during the previous week. Until October, trains are to operate on an “unveiling” (ie reduced) service. The station names are “Chris Hani” and “Kuyasa”. They are about 2km apart and Kuyasa is about 2km from Khayelitsha, formerly the terminus on this line. Trains will run between Chris Hani and Khayelitsha between 09:00 and 15:00 on weekdays and between 07:30 and 18:30 at weekends. A complete service from Chris Hani to Cape Town will be introduced from October 2009. According to the timetable, trains take six minutes from Chris Hani to Kuyasa and another six from Kuyasa to Khayelitsha.
