Posted on 18 June 2009

The Saudi Binladin Group – described as “one of the most important players in the Middle East,” has awarded a consortium of Ansaldo STS and AnsaldoBreda a contract to design, build and commission an automatic light metro within the Princess Noura Bint Abdulrahman women’s university in Riyadh, currently under construction. Ansaldo STS was responsible for the København metro, which showcases its driverless light metro technology. Similar driverless metro projects are on the cards in Brescia, Milano, Roma, Thessaloniki and Taipei.
