KAZAKHSTAN-GULF STATES LINE

According to Kazakhstan minister of transport and communications Abelgazi Kusainov, construction of a 638km line to connect his country with the Gulf States is to begin in the fourth quarter of 2009. Heads of state in Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran have jointly agreed to this international corridor project. Initial work will concentrate on the 138km section from Uzen to the border with Turkmenistan.
