Transnet Rail Engineering took ownership of its first Wheel Drop System today. Africa’s first Wheel Drop System was installed at the Transnet Rail Engineering’s Bloemfontein Diesel Depot by Yale Engineering Products (Pty) ltd. This project is inline with Transnet Rail Engineering’s Lean Six Sigma productivity improvement programme, ensuring world class best operating practices.

The Wheel Drop System now allows for an operation that once took seven days to that of one day. Thus, a contributing factor to the reliability and availability of Transnet Freight Rails locomotives.
