CHINA BIDS FOR UK TRAINS

Chinese train manufacturer CSR Nanjing Puzhen Rolling Stock, a wholly owned subsidiary of China South Locomotive and Rolling Stock Corporation – is to bid to supply train operator London Midland with between 40 and 120 new electric train coaches. The contract will run for four years and has a quoted value of between £44m and £160m. Rolling stock would be deployed on both inner and outer commuting services on the London Midland franchise.

CSR Nanjing Puzhen is one of four pre-qualified bidders (along with Bombardier, CAF and Rotem) to supply 200 new diesel multiple unit (DMU) coaches for the UK rail network.
