Posted on 14 May 2009 by Railways Africa Editor

In terms of the surface transport master plan for Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates, the airport is to be a multi-modal hub. It will have a station on the high-speed regional rail network connecting the city to the northern Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. In addition, it will be served by the future metro, which will have circular routes around the central business district and suburbs, and is to be the focus of a tram system.
