PALM MONORAIL DELAYED

The opening of the $US381 Palm Monorail, scheduled for 1 April, has been delayed, Gulf Times reports. The first monorail in the Middle East, it is being developed by a consortium of international companies led by the Marubeni Corporation. Construction began in March 2006 and the final route will extend approximately 1km. Passengers will be carried between Gateway Station at the trunk of The Palm Jumeirah and the Atlantis’ Aquaventure Station on the crescent. Ultimately it is to connect to the Dubai Metro.
